The Feast of the Annunciation
TWIF: Through Mary, With Mary, In Mary, For Mary leading to Jesus. An acronym Montfortians used to show in a simplified way the relative importance of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the salvation plan of God for she is the “safest, easiest, shortest and most perfect way of approaching Jesus”, according to St. Louis de Montfort. Because it was through affirming to the will of God, through her FIAT that Jesus has been born human and lived with us. St. Louis Marie de Montfort mentioned in his book, the True Devotion that “Mary was the earthly paradise of Jesus” for it was in her womb that Jesus was nourished for nine months before His birth. Her womb somehow served as Jesus’ earthly sanctuary while her bosom nurtured the life of the life- giving God who is about to come.
When the angel Gabriel who was sent from God spoke to Mary about her bearing a son whom she is to name Jesus (Lk 1: 38), at first she was filled with confusion (even troubled in spirit). Nevertheless, she humbled herself, and obeyed the will of the Father.
“I am the handmaid of the Lord, let it be done unto me according to thy word”. By these words Mary accepted to become the Mother of Our Lord. A true example of humility, purity, faithfulness and devotion to God.
“It was through the Blessed Virgin Mary that Jesus came into the world, and it is also through her that he must reign in the world.” (True Devotion, St. Louis- Marie de Montfort)
Mary, you are truly blessed among women for giving us Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
Happy Feast Day of the Annunciation! Mary, the Holy Mother of God! 🙂
